Harold C. DeLong was the treasurer of the Goudey Gum Company from at least 1922 to 1924, and probably up until shortly before Enos Gordon Goudey sold the company at the beginning of 1932. By the beginning of 1932 the treasurer was W. E. Leary. When Harold DeLong left the Goudey Gum Company he started his own gum company and called it the DeLong Gum Company. The signature comparison on the right proves that Harold C. DeLong who worked for Enos Goudey and the Harold C. DeLong that founded the DeLong Gum Co. are the same person. The signature from the stock certificate shown below has been Xed out, but it is clearly the same signature as the one on the Goudey Document. In 1933 DeLong issued a set of 24 Baseball cards packed with his gum. Burdick has given these cards a reference designation of R333. The Lou Gehrig card is the key card in this set. |
