George Chester Thompson was born and raised in Springfield Vermont. After graduating from High School he attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon graduation from the University George went to work as a chemist for The Goudey Gum Company in 1931. George continued to work as an employee of the Goudey Gum Company for a number of years. On June 21, 1944 George Thompson is elected Clerk of the World Wide Gum Company. By 1956 Alonzo P. Delehunt had parially liquidated and sold the company to George Thompson who was running the company at the time for Mr. Delehunt. George Thompson became the exclusive owner of the Goudey Gum Company on February 4, 1956. At this time the Goudey Gum Company was making gumballs and OH-BOY-KISS-GUM. The Goudey Gum company remained at the Allston address until December 26, 1962 when it officially ceased operations.
