In 1938 a series of 48 Baseball Cards were issued. This series is also known as the "Heads-Up" set. The numbering of this series starts at 241 as if it it a continuation of the 1933 series. On the card fronts, a photo is used for the player‘s head with the body being a cartoon drawing. This series is essentially a set of 24 cards repeated twice. Cards #241-264 have plain backgrounds on the front. Cards # 265-288 have the same basic design and photo, but include small drawings and comments within the background. The backs of these cards contain player statistics and biographical information. Some of the cards in this set are shown below.
