Aviation Chewing Gum Premiums - World Wide Gum Co. Ltd. V-402
This is a series of 10 mail in premiums issued in Canada by The World Wide Gum Company
Limited of Granby Quebec Canada (often referred to as Canadian Goudey). These premiums were
issued for Aviation Chewing Gum. Although there are no company
identifiers on the premiums themselves, the wrapper from this series indicates it as having
been issued by the World Wide Gum Company of Canada No Guide that I am aware of has this series
listed, and I have never found reference to an actual date of issue. I assume that it is some
time around the late 1930's or 40's era as the subjects seem to mostly World War 2 Airplanes
or earlier. Burdick lists this series as number V402 in his American Card Catalogue. The premium
front features a sepia toned photographic image taken from illustrations of World War II era
planes. The backs of the pictures are blank. These Premiums measure 4 3/4 inches by 9 inches.

An additional series of 10 premiums labeled Big 3 were also issued and appear
to be a continuation of the Aviation Gum Series as they are numbered 11 through 20. The wrappers
for Aviation Gum, Marine Gum,
and Victory Gum link the three brands together and I
assume that Big 3 refers to those three gum brands. Burdick apparently does not have a designation
for these premiums. The backs of the pictures are blank. These Premiums measure 4 3/4 inches by
9 inches.
