This is a series of 210 cards issued in Canada by The World Wide Gum Company Limited of Granby Quebec Canada, in packs of their Aviation Chewing Gum (often referred to as Canadian Goudey). Although there are no company identifiers on the card itself, the wrapper from this series (shown on the right) indicates it as having been issued by the World Wide Gum Company of Granby, Quebec, Canada. Click on the wrapper for a larger view. No Guide that I am aware of has this series listed, and I have never found reference to an actual date of issue. I assume that it is some time around the late 1930's or 40's era as the subjects seem to mostly World War 2 Airplanes or earlier. Burdick lists this series as number V401 in his American Card Catalogue. The card front features a red tone photographic image of both British and American planes. Information about the Plane is printed in both French and English on the front. There was also a variation of these cards issued which the wording "Aviation Series" on the front rather than "Aviation Chewing Gum". There were only 30 cards issued with the variation numbered 181 through 210. This makes the total number of cards issued 240 including the variation. The backs of the cards are blank. These Cards measure 3 1/4 inches by 2 5/8 inches. A series of 10 premiums were also issued for Aviation Chewing Gum and these premiums are listed by Burdick as V-402.
